Merrell's reputation as on of the leading brands in outdoors hikers is well deserved of a mention regarding this particular product. Very much well received, the shoes are very comfortable as they are durable, at a rather reasonable price of $100.00 for a good line of hikers. Purpose wise, this pair works well for hiking purposes. The tread grip is outstanding, enabling excellent maneuverability on most surfaces and terrains, while limitations may come up on slippery rocks and surfaces, but such grip still provide excellent stability in movement. This should serve well for those intending to further explore a trail, or probably more "off trail" experiences. The tongue of this shoes is by far, excellent. A popular shoe, and one worth spending your dollars on for a long term. Here are some of the customer reviews, so far has always been highly approving. I would like to have some more of this shoe personally. Judging from the appearance of the shoe, this pair also makes good casual footwear. Comfortable, lightweight, and durable, what not to like.

5.0 out of 5 stars If they make my husband happy... October 23, 2012
By cookandrun
We bought these last week, and so far so good. My husband finds them very comfortable and wears them everywhere. The only problem is that his custom inserts (which fit inside of previous pairs of Merrell shoes) don't fit. The ankle is lower than in his previous shoes from Merrell, and the inserts push his foot up out of the shoe. He has been wearing them without the inserts, and thinks they are great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most comfortable shoe I've owned October 8, 2012
By iJeep2

I was tempted to give this shoe five stars right out of the box - it was so comfortable. But I wanted some time with the product before reviewing. So I've worn these shoes almost full time for a couple of months now and I can say without a doubt that these are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. They fit more like socks than shoes (EXACTLY what I was looking for). I do wear socks with these (for odor and moisture reasons, not comfort). If you are a sockless guy, go for it. The lining is smooth, soft and full. If sockless, just be sure to size down 1/2 size. For sock wearing, order your size straight up. These size true (I now own two pair and they both size dead-on). If you are between sizes in different brands, order up to the next size (again, only if you plan to wear socks).

These shoes have ruined me. I cannot stand wearing my cross trainers any more. The tongue on a typical athletic shoe absolutely bothers me now. Once you wear the stretch style, you'll never feel as comfortable in a "tongue" shoe.

For the intended application (hiking), these have fantastic tread grip. The tread is soft and supple to the touch, not hard. The only time I've felt tread slip was on a slick wet aluminum bleacher tread (football game - not hiking trail). But with any grit on any trail - save for maybe mossy wet rocks - this tread holds great.

I want to buy a lifetime supply lest Merrell's marketing group ever decides to change the design and discontinue these. I hope they never do. You will not regret buying this shoe.

The typical price for this hikers in the market and as of Merrell's is $100.00, and a maximum of $120.00 for many cases. On limited options, price as low as $71.99 is available here through Amazon. Clicking on the Amazon link will lead to the details page complete with size and color options, and you may get lucky by getting the minimum price.

Wish you happy shopping, all for the passion of the outdoors.

Adidas Outdoor Terrex Fast X Mid GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Adidas is better known for its wide range of sporting goods, from all types of athletic shoes to alothing, and sporting gears, accessories and equipment. The outdoors department should never be ruled out too. Here, we have the Men's Adidas Outdoor Terrex Fast X Mid GTX Hiking Boot.

This hiker is engineered for fast-moving, high-adrenaline adventure, that is, for heavy duty outdoors use for the adventurous. The men's adidas Terrex Fast X Mid Gore-Tex shoes are highly, almost 100 per cent weatherproof due to the breathable GORE-TEX® membrane lining, enhancing performance at that, and along with synthetic tubber upper giving it lightweight feel and enhanced fit for comfort.

This very light mid-cut hiking boot has a trail-biting TRAXION™ outsole  featuring Continental rubber that provides strong grip on difficult surface, and adaptive FORMOTION® cushioning for enhanced control and downhill comfort, giving better hiking experience.

The summary of this hiking boot is listed in the following:
  • Outdoor-specific FORMOTION® unit for enhanced motion control and downhill comfort; High-abrasion mesh and synthetic upper materials for breathability and durability
  • Synthetic upper material mix for lightweight durability and enhanced fit; Waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® lining, as  performance comfort membrane
  • Speed lacing construction for fast and snug lacing; Comfortable textile lining
  • Midsole forefoot ADIPRENE®+ in the forefoot maintains propulsion and efficiency
  • TRAXION™ , featuring Continental rubber for extraordinary grip, the outsole provides the best grip and agility during fast activities
  • Weight: 14.8 ounces (per shoe, size 7)

There are many colors for this model but most of which are having wider range of sizes available in stock for sale are the red and blue ones, while the other colors are very limited to few select sizes only (most within 10 to 13). Here are the images for the available colors.

Top row; Blue, Sharp Orange, Red.

Bottom row; Cinder/Seaweed, Solid grey.

This boot is very well received. Generally, owners have only good things to say about this boot. The fact that it turns out to be a potentially very flexible shoe appeals greatly as this is a sure sign of comfort. The excellent combination of breath-ability and waterproof quality is a must in order to determine a good pair of hiker to be worn extensively, and this one serve that particular purpose. There are also positive comments on traction. It gets uncomfortable at the ankle region, though. While not an entirely excellent shoe, judging that this is mostly a lightweight hiker, all these are made up by a reasonable price for a hiker. The fact that it may get as light as a running shoe, why not go cross country running in this pair. Well, may want to give that a try.
The fast lace feature should also be noted. This, is real good stuff for those who would love to get in and out of their shoes...often. Here are the reviews then.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect December 16, 2011
By Justin

I bought this boot for short day hikes and longer 30 plus mile backpacking trips. I live in SW Georgia and wanted a waterproof yet breathable mid and I was hoping this would fit the bill.

I received them faster than expected, almost overnight. They weren't as flexible right out of the box as I've seen demonstrated on videos, but they are very light weight and fit true to size. The fast lacing system is awesome!

I went on a short 5 mile hike to test them out and they are indeed waterproof. I doubt they would hold up to total immersion longer than a minute or so, but have no fear of sloshing through puddles and small streams - all I felt was the coldness of the water. The boots are not big and bulky as my wife said when seeing them online, when worn with pants they look like any cross trainer sneaker. Traction and stability were also excellent.

The break-in period is almost nil, the stiffness I mentioned seemed to go away after a few miles. They now feel as flexible as a running shoe, except around the ankle of course. That area is the only real complaint I have. The material at the top of the boot and around the tounge do not form fit around my ankle and lower leg like they do on some of the videos I've seen (I do have small ankles). This causes some slight discomfort to that area at the top of anterior portion of my ankle. This decreased some after wearing them for awhile, I feel that once I've logged some more miles in them this will completely go away.

Overall a great mid-hiking boot! A little expensive, but I think money well spent.

Update: I was able to get rid of the anterior/upper ankle soreness by pushing down the tounge and squeezing the outer edges of the boot together, then tightening the fast lace system. This allowed the upper boot to form fit to my ankle.

Solving this problem left me with only one "new" complaint. The running end of the lacing system now almost reaches to my toes. All that slack looks funky so I wrapped the running end around the elastic retainer a few times (seemed to fix the problem). The only other option would be to go down a size but that would not work in my situation since besides this issue they fit perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great "Hybridized" Hiker March 9, 2012
By M. Hernandez

After searching for a shoe that matched the old Nike ACG line, in style, quality and versatility, I found the Adidas Outdoor/Terrex line and, bought these in "Spray/Black/Grey". I call these 'hybrid' because, although they're labeled, function and built like hikers, they pass for sneakers (maybe the term is trail shoe?). The North Face, Patagonia, Merrell, Columbia and others make great 'athletic-style hiking boots' (THAT'S the right term!), but the look of those shoes leans more toward "boot", and so, they lack the particular styling I've been seeking (Salomon makes really cool trail shoes but most are low-top). The only, minor complaint I have is that the removable insole seems cheap for a shoe that retails for $160+. The image(s) here don't do justice to the shoe's style. The micro-checker pattern on the fabric parts looks like a carbon fiber dashboard, really cool. The top-most, outer loop is an open hook that allows the lace to be easily unhooked for convenient donning & loosening. Only 4 stars for now as I've yet to put them through real rigors. Overall a moderately priced shoe, compared to other less attractive & versatile footwear that's out.

This price for this hiking boot is typically $185.00. The price range for this hiker at Amazon is from $149.95 - $174.95, with the best price are possible with the various sizes and colors available. For more details, please visit the details page for this product complete with all the available colors and sizes within the said price range by clicking here. 5.0 out of 5 stars Merrell Siren Sport
By D. Stockwell
This is an excellent product. We have found Merrell shoes to be very comfortable, and they offer outstanding support for the foot. My wife has several varieties of Merrell shoes, and will always look at their line first. Sizing is normal, so ordering online is not a problem. Amazon's link to ShoeMall worked well, and pricing was the best (and free shipping, too!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fit and performance
By

I've had Merrells recommended to me in the past, but I clung to the brand I'd been wearing for the past 10 years because I was afraid the shoes would be too narrow for my feet. I have fairly prominent bunions, so I need something with a relatively wide toe box. I was extremely pleased with the fit of these shoes. They aren't overly wide, but they don't pinch the way so many brands do, to the point I always had to go up a half size to get the width I needed. I can actually wear my regular size with these. Another thing about the fit is that the heel doesn't slip. Too often, a shoe tends to be pretty much the same width from toe box to ankle, but these hug my ankle perfectly.

Being a cross-trainer, the soles are a little stiffer than most of the walking shoes I've had, but I've found I like the stiffer sole for me. I've got a plantar plate tear on the second toe of my right foot and with these shoes, I get much more support for the ball of the foot and much less aggravation for that toe. I feel like I get great cushioning and support from the sole over every part of the shoe's surface and it allows me to maintain much better traction when I'm walking to work. I walk fast, about a 4 mph clip, and these shoes make me feel like I'm floating on air above the ground.

The only minor con to the shoe is that for people with above average arches, you will probably want a different insole. Otherwise, this is a really great shoe.

I am totally switching my brand loyalty to Merrell.

Purchased these shoes for active days travelling abroad in Turkey and Paris. They were light weight, sturdy, remarkably comfortable, dried quickly when wet, and clean easily. They were ideal for hiking on rock and dirt terrain, running on trails and walking through city streets for 10 miles plus museums in Paris. My feet didn't never hurt unlike the other folks on our trip. Versatile and super investment. Just bought my husband a pair.Thumbs up!

The typical price for this product as of now is $95.00, with over nine different colors available here, and with a wide range of sizes. The lowest possible price for this pair of hiker is at $78.90, on select options based on the availability of sizes and colors combination.
